Volunteering at Halleck Creek Ranch might be the perfect fit for you! Halleck Creek Ranch was founded in 1977, and is a 501c03 non-profit with two locations in Nicasio (Old Rancheria Road and Rock Rose Ranch). We are looking for active, energetic and caring volunteers to assist with lessons and facility care at our two ranches; both are located in Nicasio (in West Marin, 30 minutes West of San Rafael, 30 minutes SW of Petaluma). Old Rancheria is open Tuesday-Saturday, and Rock Rose is open Wednesday-Friday.
Program Volunteer positions work with our horses and students in the riding and groundwork portions of our program. This includes engaging with and assisting our participants with disabilities, sidewalking, grooming and tacking-up horses, and eventually leading horses for our riders.
Facility Volunteers help in a variety of ways around our ranches, some of which include cleaning paddocks and water troughs, weeding, general repairs, or helping with special projects under the guidance and supervision of our Ranch Caretaker.
No horse experience is required, all training is provided, and learning is encouraged! Our horses are gentle, and volunteers as young as 14 are encouraged to apply. All volunteers must attend an orientation, complete the required paperwork and participate in on-going training during their period of service.
