Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline required or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 9 years experience as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer or related aviation/aerospace engineering

Position Purpose :

Responsible for guidance and implementation of new Software Quality Assurance processes, and then execution of those processes regardless of complexity. The ongoing role is to evaluate process/product performance, and participate/interface with engineering counterparts on program activities to assure airborne software processes and products are compliant with FAA, company, and contractual requirements. Assists department management with supervisory and administrative activities as necessary.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Responsible to provide expert-level knowledge to: .
2. Lead the development and implementation of software quality plans, processes, procedures for use across Gulfstream .
3. Lead the review of software build planning and methodology .
4. Dry run procedure that Engineering uses for software build to confirm ability to implement .
5. Witness software builds .
6. Lead the confirmation and justification for derived requirements .
7. Confirm compliance with and following software development plan .
8. Conduct software quality process and product audits .
9. Review Engineerings FAA deliverables .
10. Lead the monitoring and evaluation of supplier software changes for key suppliers .
11. Provide authoritative technical decisions and recommendations for Software Quality Assurance Program products on behalf of Gulfstream.
12. Actively seek and lead the development of innovative principles and ideas for all software quality assurance engineering associated processes.
13. Mentor other team members concerning software quality assurance engineering processes and procedures.
14. Assist manager in developing employee goals and delivering performance reviews.

Additional Functions:

1. Provide expert level assessment in collaboration with engineering during root cause analysis related to software for confirmation of discipline rigor and to help identify and implement corrective and preventive actions .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

1. Familiarity with SEI CMM preferred. Demonstrated, expert-level knowledge of and experience with:.
2. Standard DO-178B/C and DO-254 objectives.
3. Requirements definition and management.
4. Test case/procedure definition.
5. Software configuration management and change control.
6. Validation and verification of life cycle data.
7. Causal analysis tools to analyze and resolve technical / process issues varying from basic to very complex.
8. Prefer software audit experience.
9. Must work well in a team environment, have excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communications skills, and strong analytical skills.
