D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Region Paralegal . The right candidate will support the Region Counsel in managing responsibilities of Legal Department in all aspects of acquisitions and real estate transactions and marketing review.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Manage, review, and process all acquisition deal submittals (including, but not limited to, contracts, notices of suitability, amendments, earnest money release, etc.), and other division requests for approval from Region or Corporate executives
  • Order and manage environmental assessments
  • Review and process and review marketing approval requests
  • Work in close liaison with the Divisions, Corporate Legal, Corporate Environmental and Corporate Land Funding groups to ensure seamless workflow
  • Provide legal/administrative support to Region Counsel
  • Maintain current Region contract submittal log
  • Maintain archives/storage of legal files and coordinate acquisition file management
  • Enter/maintain Region deal entries in the Corporate database
  • Monitor contract progress to confirm internal deadlines are met
  • Track investor sales and certain HOA filings
  • Draft and examine various legal documents
  • Assist with planning and coordination of Regional meetings/events
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner
  • Ability to work overtime , if needed based on office’s collective workload and impending deadlines
  • Perform other duties as needed to support Regional Counsel and Regional operations
 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree / Paralegal certification
  • Real Estate transactional experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to track an acquisition from initial contact through closing
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team
  • Demonstrate an ability to meet strict deadlines, with multiple projects while maintaining organized project files
  • Must process creative problem-solving skills, resourcefulness and tenacity
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • High proficiency with MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email
  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university a plus
