Job Title: PACS Administrator III
Location : Palm Springs, CA (On Site Required)
Job Type : Direct Hire
The PACS Administrator III is responsible for RIS/PACS and CPACS application architecture, strategic planning, project proposal and overall project execution, upgrades and regular maintenance of Pictorial Archiving Communication Systems and modalities. Serves as a content expert for imaging and cardiology workflows. Works with the RIS/PACS Manager to plan and implement new systems, optimize workflows and system configuration to improve clinical workflows and reduce the opportunities for errors or delays.
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in IT or healthcare related field OR an additional four (4) years of applicable experience in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Information Systems or Healthcare related field
Licensure/Certification
- Required: Two (2) relevant Clinical, IT and/or Clinical Application Certifications (DICOM, Radiant, Cupid, AART, RN, RT)
- Preferred: Imaging Application PACS
Experience
- Required: Seven (7) years of combined PACS / imaging / Clinical application analyst experience or eleven (11) years relevant experience in healthcare, technology in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree
- Preferred: Experience with a mix of imaging clinical operations, Imaging PACS application, project management
1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. Leads planning implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and provides highly skilled technical assistance to operations staff and the RIS/PACS manager on imaging best practices, complex design and application architecture.
3. Partners with radiologists, technologists and staff to recommend, create and optimize hanging protocols, exam filters, dictation profiles, reports and prioritizing issue resolution and mentors staff to do the same
4. Expert in engineering connectivity between imaging modalities and PACS, mentors the staff in best practices for configuration, testing, documentation and issue resolution. Designs and manages the portfolio of modalities and the tools to route DICOM images to systems like post processing, artificial intelligence, routers and downstream systems. Recommends application architecture modifications to optimize performance.
5. Designs software install packages and expert in provider and staff adoption. Advises on applications and workflows and ensures the overall PACS confluence documentation is up to date. Mentors PACS Admin I and II in documentation standards.
6. Proactively troubleshoots interface errors with Radiology and Cardiology systems. Leads improvements using Lean and root cause analysis process and tools to optimize workflows and reduce errors.
7. Sets a positive tone and mentors team members to be curious and seek to understand the “how and why” processes work.
8. Coordinates maintenance activities, provides level three support and works closely with customers and the RIS/PACS team to resolve issues. Mentors PACS and other team members in skill development to do the same.
9. Advises on dashboard creation and advises on radiology, cardiology and imaging reports and ensure dashboards support operational outcomes.
10. Leads by example and mentors others in quality documentation in tickets, confluence and project plans while seeking input from leaders.
11. Leads large imaging projects and provides advanced process improvement experience and recommends improvements to enhance efficiency and quality outcomes. Works with the Senior Management Team to design and implement methods which improve PACS applications and architecture.
12. Monitors performance reports, work queues, interface error logs to ensure systems are performing optimally, and guides the development and adoption of solutions. Provides complex advice on technology and processes to enhance proactive alerts of application or integration issues.
13. Models and ensures effective communication with physicians and other clinical personnel. Ensures effective communication within and between assigned departments, vendors and IS staff members.
14. Guides operational owners and leaders in Information Technology system selection that supports and maximizes operational goals and objectives.
15. Leads complex RIS/PACS projects, recommending system configuration, advising on imaging workflows and completing the activities necessary to successfully deliver projects on time and on budget. Manages a large volume of work and appropriately engages senior leadership to mitigate project issues and risks.
16. Leads the implementation of tools, technology and processes to efficiently and effectively support Tumor Board conferences and optimizes systems to support privacy and security.
17. Develops written procedures, complex integration drawings and dataflow maps and mentors the team in developing advances technical documentation skills.
18. Completes RIS/PACS/CPACS competencies and assists other staff with competency sign off.
19. Participates in the RIS/PACS OnCall rotation
20. Performs other duties as assigned.
