The Department of Food Science and Technology invites applications for a part-time (0.30 FTE ), 9-month, fixed-term Instructor position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.

FTE is flexible 0.30 to 0.49 based on business need.

The position location in OSU Corvallis campus, incumbent must be present to teach in-person classes. Relocation expenses will not be provided by the department.

The position will support the instructional needs of the academic programs in the Department of Food Science and Technology ( FST ) by teaching courses in the food engineering and sustainable food manufacturing areas. Teaching in other food science courses as well as instructional assessment duties may be assigned as needed.

The incumbent will work with other FST faculty on campus, at the Food Innovation Center, and the Astoria Seafood Lab regarding teaching needs. The incumbent will be expected to interact with other OSU faculty as needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requires Master's degree in discipline appropriate to the field of teaching/instructional tasks.

Requirements :

MS in Food Science, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.

Teaching or teaching assistant experience and demonstration of teaching effectiveness.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to communicate with and relate well to students, and to communicate complex topics.

Commitment to excellence in inclusive teaching and student success.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Type:

Work is performed in a classroom and laboratory environment and requires wearing personal protective clothing and equipment. Position has access to property where hazardous materials and other items controlled by state or federal laws or regulations are located.

Incumbent may need to drive OSU Motor Pool vehicles for field/site visits.
