Job Description

The Cemetery Manager is responsible for ensuring a smooth, professional and efficient operation of Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery. This position will report to the Director of the National Shrine Grotto, work with internal staff and Mount St. Mary’s University resources to mold and manage a strong, cohesive experience for the visitors of the National Shrine Grotto and Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery. Candidate must have strong organization and administrative skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Applicant must have the ability to manage and work with a diverse group of individuals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an excellent working knowledge in Word and Excel are required. All is done a manner to advance the goals of the University, and specific mission of the National Shrine Grotto. Position reports directly to the Director of the National Shrine Grotto.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Point of contact for families interested in purchasing a plot or niche.
• Maintain Cemetery database and shared drive.
• Track plot/niche sales and payments.
• Coordinate interment services with funeral homes, families, and excavator.
• Oversee burial prayer services, providing materials needed.
• Work closely with the Operations Manager on maintaining the Cemetery grounds.

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Excellent skills in the use of Microsoft Office Word and Microsoft Office Excel software.
• Familiarity with other Microsoft Office software.
• Excellent telephone and oral/written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional project management and event planning skills.
• Creative and analytical thinking; exceptional problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and oral communications skills.
• Comfortable managing multiple deadlines and priorities in a dynamic environment.

• In-depth knowledge of Roman Catholic faith, with its cultures and structure, and activities.

Salary/Benefits/Hours:

• Competitive salary commensurate to experience.
• Tuition Remission Benefits Available.
• 20 hours per week: Wednesday- Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. plus occasional evenings hours for scheduled events (subject to change depending on season and events/ group schedule).
